Colour for the Soul- Bold and Brave

White is safe, white doesn't date, I hear you say! Well I say it's only paint and if you don't like it in a couple of years time, paint over it! Colours have healing powers and can inspire moods, that's why people hire consultants like me to give greater meaning to a room than just painting everything in Antique White USA!

Now don't get me wrong, white has it's place in the design world and I use it's varying shades often. But, what we're talking about today is how to make BOLD COLOUR CHOICES.

GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE.

Yes, let's do it. Push the boundaries of what you're used to. Colour doesn't always have to be a big commitment BUT it will always be fun. As long as you choose the right colours together in the right space it won't make you feel ill when you enter the room. If this is your first colour experience maybe just start with paint. Like I said above, it can be changed (how often depends on how much you like painting or your budget for a painter).

You need to be sure of what you're doing however, CONFIDENCE IS KEY. If you really have no idea how to bring this all together, leave this to us PROFESSIONALS.

We are here to make sure you don't give people a headache when they come to visit, instead they say, "Wow, that looks fantastic, I can't believe how brave you were to make this decision, it really paid off".

PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND COLOUR CHOICES.

Not every colour choice is made with science on our side, it may be just because "I really like TEAL AND GOLD and that's what I'm having." However, particular colours can make people feel certain ways and if that is your objective, keep reading and I will explain how.

We tend to subconsciously associate certain colours with emotions or values and here are generally what those associations are. I've created these handy little CHEAT SHEETS that can be pinned to a PINTEREST board to help when deciding what colours will be right for you.

CHOOSING YOUR COLOUR PALETTE.

Now, my schooling would tell me that I should get my colour wheel out and choose complementary colours from the opposite side of the wheel to use together. Well I say phooey to that. You know who makes the best colour palettes? NATURE, that's who. If it's good enough for Ol' Mother Nature, it's good enough for me. The reason why we know it's looks good together is because we've seen it work. For example, take some thing as simple as a ROOSTER. Not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of a beautifully coloured bird, however they're exceptional to base a palette on when styling a room. It's a bold move to pair BURNT ORANGE with TEAL & NAVY, but I know it's going to look fab because that Rooster struts around showing off his colour combos with pride and STYLE.

With all this information you may be able to head off into the big wide world and style your living area after a TAHITIAN SUNSET or you may not, but that's OK. That's what I'm here for, I will encourage your colour confidence and help you execute that MACCAW coloured bathroom you've always wanted.

Colour is not something to be afraid of, be brave and GO BOLD WITH COLOUR!
